Pink Flowers
First layer was wet on wet with the background
Two more layers of the same thing after letting it dry in between each
Petals were pink outlines of the petals and then graded wash
Same technique was used for each layer
Wet on wet was used again for the center of the flower
The flowers I used in my painting were some that I had at home in my sister’s room that came from my great grandmother’s house.
Most of my colors are mixtures
I used color and value in the flower petals
Along with rhythm/movement and unity

Naked Tree
First layer everything was wet on wet
I used the “stab” method in a few areas in the sky
Then put more water over the whole thing to try and have it blend and leave fun lines
After it all dried i used different size brushes for the tree
The picture I chose was just something I thought looked cool
The sunset was pretty and I like pictures with tree silhouettes
All the colors I used were mixtures and the tree was glazed over in parts
There is unity and a lot of emphasis with the tree
Also I used line and shape

B-Fly
For this painting I used water colors. The picture I decided to paint was one I had taken of a butterfly that landed one my dad’s truck. I used dark lines to make a little shadow at the front of the butterfly and a lot of different colors in the butterfly itself. There also is some balance between the two smaller parts of the wings with a lot of different patterns throughout them. |
Green House Collar Worm
For this painting I used acrylic paint on water paper. Color was a big thing with all of my browns. I mixed them both with a bunch of different colors to make different shades of brown so it didn't seem too flat. Also form and lines in the little house thing helped with the perspective of it and there is some kind of texture and movement in the background. The objects I used were things I found around my house I liked such as my dog's collar and the funny looking worm thing.

Baby and Me
For this project I painted acrylics on water color paper. The picture I chose is of me and my friends baby brother in myrtle beach this summer at a party to celebrate us winning nationals. In this painting I used a lot of lines in the skin so that if you look close you can see all of the brush strokes. Also value in the skin going from the lighter areas of my face to the darker more shadowed out parts of my skin. I tried to use balance with the faces so that they seemed symmetrical on each side along with proportion and scale for the features of our faces.

Zeke
This is a picture of my first dog Zeke and I on a bright sunny morning. For this project I used charcoal on white paper. Since he is a black lab I really tried to use contrast in his fur where the light hits him with different values. I didn’t want him to look completely flat either so I used a lot of little lines throughout his fur to try and give him form and texture to make him look furry. Since this picture was taken at kind of an angle I also tried to focus on proportions from the size of my face down to my legs and from Zeke’s face to the little bit of his back you can see.

For this project I drew a picture of my sister holding a candle where her hands were closer to the camera than the rest of her. I did a lot of lines with various colors to try and give form to her face and hands with the contrasting shadows and bright moments. I emphasized her nails by making them a bright red to also try and unify them with all the red apples in the background.
I used pen and ink for this project to make my panda. I feel like there is a lot of contrast between the green of the bamboo sticks with the rest of it since it's all black and gray/white. There are tons of lines throughout the panda to try and make the texture of his fur and there is some emphasis on the panda himself just with all the white of the face and darkness of his fur that stands out from the greyish background that kinda blends together.
